Daniel E. Guzman, MD, MSE
Overview
Daniel E. Guzman, MD, MSE, is a board-certified hospitalist and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He is also a clinician investigator in translational medicine focused on identifying proteomic associations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and emphysema. Dr. Guzman joined the division in 2022 as a T32 award post-doctoral clinical fellow in respiratory epidemiology, during which he began his research in proteomics. Dr. Guzman also earned his Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in data and computational science from Columbia University during his post-doctoral years while completing additional classes at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health. Prior to joining the division, Dr. Guzman was a Clinical Instructor and hospitalist at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he also completed his internal medicine residency training. He received his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University--New Brunswick. His interests include precision and personalized medicine, hospital medicine, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence (AI), advancing diagnostic blood and other biochemical tests, respiratory health, health effects of environmental pollution, general population and Hispanic community health, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys cooking, traveling, and DJing in his free time.
