Research

Dr. Aaron's research focuses on identifying factors related to emphysema and airflow obstruction in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She is currently studying the pulmonary vasculature and emphysema in COPD, including in those with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. She also studies cardiopulmonary interactions and air pollution exposures in the Multi-Ethic Study of Atheroschlerosis (MESA) Lung Study and the MESA Air Pollution Study. Her research interests include the epidemiology of COPD and emphysema, including environmental exposures and pulmonary vascular remodeling.
